A continious environmental zone was set up in the city of Essen. As of July 2014, only vehicles with a green environmental badge may enter this zone.
Vehicles from Germany and abroad that meet the emissions criteria may order the necessary badge from the TÜV Nord or www.umwelt-plakette.de .
With two campsites available in the South of Essen, a visit to the fair can become a relaxed short holiday.
Lake Baldeney campsite has a beautiful view of the water. The site is open year-round and has a beer garden, restaurant and kiosk. The sanitary facilities are suitable for the disabled and for children.
Essen's Werden district features a campsite directly on the Ruhr River - close to the city yet situated in nature - with paved caravan spaces, 100 spaces for tourists and 180 permanent parking spaces.
Essen Werden is a small district with a historic old town, half-timbered houses and cobbled streets. In good weather, the Ruhr and Lake Baldeney are perfect for a walk, a boat tour or a round of miniature golf. Thanks to excellent public transportation connections - the streetcar is a short walk from the site - the campsite is a good starting point for visiting the trade fair and the city of Essen.
