2D-Shuttle

2D-Shuttle

The 2D-Shuttle is a semi-autonomous vehicle that rides underneath the rolling benches, using the heating pipes as rails.
Using it’s grabbing mechanisms and sensors the 2D-Shuttle can move the individual rolling benches conforming to the transport tasks assigned by the grower using the Dat-A-Control Software.
The 2D-Shuttle can also switch rows independent of other machines.

The A-Track transport lines ensure bench movements between rows and connects the growing area to the work area.
Each individual A-Track Transport Line section is powered by just one drive unit, using two speeds: a fast one for normal bench movements and a slow one for precise positioning of the bench on the lifting frame.

n order to be able to move between rows, the 2D-Shuttle makes use of a X-Rail which usually spans the whole length of the growing area.
The X-Rail is designed using standardized parts, helping keep the initial deployment costs for the 2D-Shuttle system low.

The foundation of our design was the desire to actually make a sustainable vertical farming system, and this both from an environmental point of view as well as from a financial point of view.
To do this we designed the Greencube steel structure with standardized components used for pallet storage systems and iCube systems.
Next, when it came time to design the automation equipment we continued focusing on standardization.
By using only 3D-Carrier's that can move throughout the entire Greencube and Vertical Transporters (VT) for movement between layers we managed to keep the logistical design of the Greencube brilliantly simple.
Since the 3D-Carrier and the VT’s use only their own sensors, there’s no need for other sensors in the GreenCube.
The GreenCube is designed to make use of LED lighting as well as precise irrigation.

Some of the advantages to using a Greencube vertical cultivation system:
maximum space usage, limited only by the height of the facility;
highly modular design;
year-round crop production;
superior space usage when compared to all other forms of farming;

A-track transport line

The A-track is a sustainable fixed automation solution, which is indispensable in many logistic systems.

The A-track is fitted with high quality bearings and sturdy wheels, making the A-track practically maintenance free.

The aluminium profile of the A-track is developed for easy installation, giving you the chance to install the system yourself. Cables and pressured air hoses are easy to store within the profile.

The flexibility of a A-track system is huge, allowing the grower to expand his automation without having to modify the existing automation.

The system can easily be expanded with various automations, such as motor drive units with clutch.

The iCUBE operates all the pallet movements using only the Logiqs 3D-Carriers and Vertical Transporters (VT). All machine and pallet movements are being controlled automatically using our advanced Warehouse Control Software while the inventory management and space allocation is done by our Warehouse Management System.

Controlled Environment Module (CEM)

The CEM uses air that moves up through the plants.
This has the following advantages for the plants:
• It allows for a higher humidity level, because the transpiration gets moved
away:
- This keeps the stomata open, causing higher CO2 uptake and thus
higher photosynthesis
- Without the increased risk of diseases
• All leaves of the plants get fresh air:
- The humidity does not get too high near the lower leaves
- The CO2 level stays high near the stomata
- All leaves stay active
- There is no build-up of ethylene
• The temperature and humidity level is static during the growth of the
plant. Leaves that were built for a certain humidity level stay in this
humidity level during growth.

Vertical Airflow

Vertical Airflow

In the summer of 2018 Logiqs introduced the idea of vertical airflow in
combination with benches.
The original idea at Logiqs was to use this in vertical farms, but the growers
of LKP had visited a greenhouse using vertical airflow for lettuce and
started talking about using benches with vertical airflow in a greenhouse in
combination with a semi closed greenhouse.
To find out if vertical airflow works for Bromeliads like it does for lettuce, we
did a test with 3 benches with bromeliads.
The outcome was very positive, so we worked together with greenhouse
builder van der Hoeven and LKP for two years to make an optimal design and
install this in their new 1.5-hectare greenhouse.
The greenhouse consists of 3 growing departments and 4 small test
departments. The hard work paid off and right now there is a very
homogeneous climate in all departments and requested changes in the climate
are achieved within minutes.
The result is more growth and energy saving and a very even production.
